I am just starting my third season. Before I splashed last week I fine tuned to reduce the pitch a bit. Prior to I was not able to hit top rpm of 3000. I also felt that my boat speed at idle in calm water was a little too fast at 2 plus knots. Both issues I could live with but I wanted to make the change. Pitch adjustment was easy. I did get the extra 100 -150 rpm's I needed to reach 3000 but my idle speed is still over 2 kts. Maybe further adjustment next year.
No complaints with this cheap prop. Installation was easy. Grease it once a year and you are ready to go. Reverse is much better than the standard 3 blade that came with the boat.
I have not needed service from the company but I have heard of them replacing parts for others w/o question.
I do sail in fresh water. Barnacles, lobster pots or fishing lines are not an issue for me so I can't tell you how the prop would hold up against them.
I do paint the prop with anti-fouling paint. Slime grows on it just the same as on the bottom of the boat.
One of the main reasons I selected this prop was that it was light weight. I had heard of others having vibration issues with the heavier props and some recommended going to a SS shaft. I didn't want to change it if I didn't have to. It worked and I was able to keep my old shaft although while I was at it I did replace the cutlass bearing.
Never had an issue going from forward to reverse.
Best of all you get that extra boat speed while sailing in light winds. And Lake Michigan has plenty light wind days.
