prop stabilizer issue

I have an 82 34 oday. I recently removed a rats nest of rope from my prop and found some wiggle in prop so tightened stabilizers from below but could not access the bolts from below as they appear to be under the battery box. My question is has anyone encountered a similar problem. The prop is more stable but still has some play. What do you think I am trying to wait for a year to pull and refit my boat.

Can you tell what exactly is wiggling? (1) The prop relative to the shaft, (2) the shaft relative to the strut, or (3) the strut relative to the hull? 1 is very bad and means the prop needs to be refitted in some way, but that doesn’t sound like your issue. 2 probably means the cutless bearing is worn and needs to be replaced. That’s pretty common and sounds like a possibility here. 3 might mean the strut is no longer well bedded in the hull, which might mean rebuilding the bedding surface on the bottom of the hull and/or adjusting the way it’s mounted.

What are "stabilizers"? If you google that word I doubt you have any on your sail boat. Pictures would help if you don't have the terminology.

Yes I believe so. Boats going to the yard for bottom job and refit including fixing strut and checking bearings, redoing and up dating through hull fittings hopefully done in time for our Oregon salmon run. Thanks for the excellent and very accurate guidance.

Aren't they the winglets that are on the bow of a submarine? :). (Theres o so many @Kermit comments to this thread)

I did consider adding a torpedo to the keel of my H23. I’m sure that would have added stability.
P.S. I honestly tried to figure out how to add one.

Strut is usually through bolted. If loose, it will admit water to the boat. Afraid that you must haul and rebed immediately IMHO.

I wish there was some way to know when a poster wasn't seriously seeking a reply to his question, so I wouldn't waste my time responding and waiting for him to reply.
