I would like to replace the prop on my 2002 270 with a 18 hp Yanmar deisel. I am looking at a folding prop. What is the correct size and is it right or left handed.

Well, I'd bet the farm that it's right handed,

but an easy way to check is to put the boat in reverse while tied to the dock. If most of the propwash is on the starboard side it's a right handed prop. My 270 is a '94 with a 2 blade prop, head to head against newer 270's I can walk away from them quite easily. The newer boats have 3 bladed props and 130 gennys, I'm running a 150 genny with the 2 blade. I suspect that the genny is more of a factor then the props.

Thanks. I have a friend who replaced his standard prop on his older 27 with a folding one. The difference is amazing. I am sure that the same holds true between a 2 blade and 3 blade. My is a 3 blade. I just purchased the boat late this summer and am amazed how BIG the 3 blade is. I would like to try out the prop wash test, but it is a little cold here in Colorado with snow on the ground and the boat on the hard. But it did favor having the dock on the left side when pulling in the slip so I take that as the prop wash going to the right.
