I recently re powered my 1981 Hunter 27 with a new Yanmar 2GM20F with a 2.62 reduction ratio. I was looking for someone that has gone through the prop sizing process on this configuration. I am currently still using the old 2 bladed 13x9 prop that was sized for my old 1GM10. Any suggestions on prop with that will fit the current 1-inch shaft and take full advantage of my new 2GM’s power would be greatly appreciated.

Go to a prop shop!

Pedro: Go to a local prop shop and have them size the prop for you. You will need to engine horse power, transmission ratio and the approx. displacement. If you boat is out of the water, you will want to check the tip clearance too (distance between the hull and the tip of the prop at it's closest point. Be sure that the shop will stand behind whatever you purchase from them. There is some science and a little black magic to getting the correct combination.

This board has that spec

Prop size is listed under your boat right here on this web site under the Boat Information tab.

Don't think the specs are for his combo.

Mike: I do not think that the specs on the site are for his combo. This is a refit. Besides that the specs that Hunter spec'd out are NOT always correct. Our H'31 was over-propped from the start.

Prop Change

I have made the same changeout, have a 1982 27foot, and used a 14x14, it has worked out great.
