Hi When speaking of prop rotation left, right is it viewed fron the stern? the yanmar manual states from the stern. I'd figure all yanmar 2gm's are the same. does anyone know Thanks Jon
from what I've read lately in Chapman's is: yes. Its as viewed from the stern facing forward. If you have the boat out of the water, if you look at the propellor you can usually see which way it would have to turn to push it forward. If its in the water you can look at the prop shaft underway and if its turning clockwise (looking forward) its a right hand. Chapman's has a whole chapter about the influence of the propellor rotation on the direction the boat will go. Its quite interesting. It can really make a difference trying to dock. Looking forward to trying out some of their suggestions next summer.
Hi Jon - You are correct that a left handed prop means it turns counter-clockwise when viewed from the aft. A right handed prop would turn clockwise when viewed from the aft. Now lets hope I didn't get that backwards! Trevor
HI,Joh,& Trevor, Your right a right handed prop is clockwise from the stern. I have a 3gm30f on my oday 28. I did find out this year the pitch on my prop is to high so I had it pulled off and its the prop shop to correct it. Allways like to help. Frederick Pierce/
