I was at boat today and started to see what's involved in removing the prop,do you have a photo of the tool for removing the prop,my auto puller did not work. My boat is a 2007 and thinking of putting a 2 bye 4 up against it and hitting it with a hammer lightly. Nick

Nick, The tool that that marina uses for this is a brass cap with threads that fit the shaft. They thread it on and then bang on the end of the cap with a mallet and the prop pops off. I am not sure where to get one. It shouldn't be real expensive. A machinist at the marina made them. Maybe you can borrow one or have one made by a friend. Mike D

Nick, use a puller and bring the prop and

shaft under tension then tap the center of the puller against the shaft with a hammer. Continue to tighten and tap until it breaks free. To protect the threads on the shaft do not take off the nut, just back it up until is flush with the end of the shaft but leaves room for the prop to move. Get a good sturdy puller that you can put some serious tension on it with a socket wrench. Here in Florida boats are not pulled out of the water every year so props are removed and installed underwater. Usually the diver that cleans the bottom and replaces the zinc collar can take care of removing and reinstalling the prop.

Thank's Guy's

I can't seem to locate a good puller,my auto puller is no good for prop removal. I am up in NY and the boat is out of the water still on the hard while I am cleaning and waxing before splashing. I guess I will ask the marina to pull her for me. The weather is perfect hear in NY for washing and waxing, it's in the low 70's not hot yet like Florida. Nick

I'll send it direct...

....via email through your member listing. I've tried before and cannot post it on this forum (bitmap file). The subject line will say "Prop Tool". It also works as a cutlass bearing press.
