Has anyone tried the Prop Guard that sells for about $85? If so, I was wondering if it had any effect to reduce "prop walk"?

I asked a similar question. The prop gaurd is a kort tube. They work best with squared prop blades that are close to the tube wall.
An outboard shouldn't have any significant propwalk. Propwalk is generated by props that are not vertical. IF your outboard is generating significant prop walk, it isn't adjusted properly, since it should be nearly vertical.

If the outboard isn't mounted on the centerline, you're going to get a turning moment, but the propguard won't affect it at all, because it is due to the lever arm caused by the distance from the centerline. :naughty:

Barry can you steer your boat with the motor. I have my motor connected to the rudder and it makes it very easy to maneuver on a 22 Hunter. I had the propguard but it was just to make sure the rudder did not get into the prop before I connected the rudder to the motor. The propguard did not seem to affect handling either way before that.
Barry I am sorry it was not a propguard but a power thruster I think it was called.

Is the outboard offset from centerline?? If so, then you're not experiencing propwalk, as I stated above... it is simple physics due to the prop being off center, and nothing you can do to the outboard or put on or around the prop is going to change the fact that it is off center or reduce the boat's tendency to turn—because it ISN"T PROPWALK.
As I stated above, properly mounted and adjusted outboard motors don't have propwalk—since the props are basically vertical.

The outboard is vertical, off-center by Hunter design and the motor is attached to the rudder when powering.
