I had heard about a heavy duty waterproof grease that can only be purchased through a pharmacy. When smeared on the prop it is supposed to slow down growth. I can't remenber the name of it. Ring any bells??? Thanks

Don;t think it is going to work if you use.....

I don't think that this stuff will work if you use your engine. Your prop is spinning at about 800-1000 rpms. Between the friction with the water and sediment in the water it is going to be removed from the prop in short order. I have heard that STP oil treatment does the same thing (as well as diaper rash cream or just about any thing else).

There hae been a zillion

treatments for keeping barnacles off the propeller. Zinc oxide baby ointment was really big a few yeras ago as was Teflon grease and just about anything else. None work. Water flow quickly remoes them and the barnacles climb on. Water flow does not bother them. Anti-fouling paint doesn't work either. Howeer, if you do not put zincs on your shaft and prop hub, barnacles will stay away because then the bronze leaks copper ions. Of course, in a little while you won't hae a shaft or prop.
