I have a 2003 26x with a 50hp Honda. The prop that came with the boat is a 10 1/2 X 12". I am getting only about 3000 RPMs. Does anyone know what is the correct prop size for this motor on the Mac 26X?
I went through the same issues as you with a 02' Merc Bigfoot. I ended up with a Honda 50. I have a 11X12 on mine and get 6100 Rpm's empty ballast at 23 mph. About 17-18 MPH full ballast at 5800 rpms. I live in NSB and would like to get together for some sailing.. email me gbroga@hotmail.com
If top end is not a concern and you have a Honda 50......you may want to consider a 11.5" four blade.......I had mine repitched to 8 degrees for 5900 rpms at WOT........great manuevering in and around the marina.
I would consider going to a slightly larger diameter (11.5 or 11 7/8) and a 10 pitch. First though I would check out my motor with the dealer. Something sounds really wrong if you are getting only 3000 rpms with a 50 Honda turning a 10.5 x 12 prop, even fully ballasted.
