A number of projects have been accumulating... time to tackle them this winter. Headsail project....

My SeaFurl needs to go, no tension adjustment left in it... the bearings don't spin easily.

I think hanked-on headsails should work okay, never was happy with a furled headsail shape anyway.

I would think two headsails should work:
Need a headsail arrangement versus wind speed strategy..
0-12knts: Main + Genoa
12-16 knts: Reefed main + Genoa
16-20kts: Reefed main + blade jib
>20 kts: Reefed main... or blade jib?

Sail sizes...
Prior Genoa was 140%... reasonably big at 218 SA
blade jib... "100% Jib" = 156 SA, "95% jib" = 98 SA

Anyone have experience with these smaller jibs?

thanks.

Where are you sailing? I have a Seafurl. Works fine. Did you try flushing the bearings with water and then spraying with a dry lubricant? What do you mean by "no tension adjustment left in it?" That doesn't make sense to me based on my experience with mine.
Personally I'd buy an Alado furler and a new 135% with a foam luff (fixes the shape issue) for the money you will spend buying two sails. However, that said, two sails will allow you to vary material thickness, which is a plus.
