Has anyone installed a ProFurl LC32 on a h37c? I bought a new Yankee jib and the LC 32 ProFurl for my 1981 Hunter 37 but I'm running into problems. The long link plates that come with the unit are not quite long enough to keep the lower part of the drum above the lower crossbrace of the bow pulpit. Anyone else had that trouble? I'd ask the factory but they've been closed since Thursday for Easter. If any of you have installed this unit, I'd appreciate advice.

Not much help.

Jack, can you use longer turnbuckles? If the picture in the "Related Link" is accurate it appears your only choices are a longer lower turnbuckle or custom link plates. Or could you use ProFurl's short link plates and go below the brace? This would make anchor handling much harder though. Hopefully your new sail luff will not be too long if you shorten the furler. Did your boat have a forestay originally or did you add one? My '79 has a solid rod furler so I guess I would have to add a wire when I finally upgrade. Let us know if the ProFurl works well for you. It might have to go on my list. But for this season the new yankee will go on the old Hyde Staystream.

link plates

i installed the lc 32 on my h35.5, same problem link plates not long enough to mount the drum above deck , and high enough to clear the anchor locker, solution, i took the link plates i had to a machine shop and had them fab me 26 inch ones, pro furl has a limited selection of plates, turns out that the ones that i had made for around $50 were better quality the theres anyway. (took only a couple of hours to make)

Long Plates on mine....

Jack, I have the Pro-Furl system on my 37C. It was installed with the long plates from the manufacturer and it is above the lower crossbrace of the bow pulpit. Pro-Furl will assist you in any way when you finally get trough to them, they are great people and have accomodated my every need, generally at no cost even though my unit is 3 years old. Check out the attached photo, it's from a distance but you can clearly see the furling drum above the cross brace. Tom Hadoulias S/V Lite Chop

Ed: No, I had a stay

And I'm reusing the stay, had a new Yankee made with same dimensions, and I plan to mount the furler drum in the same spot as before, or a little higher. I have plenty of room in the luff, so that's not a problem, but didn't know if I could use a set of tangs to boost the length of the link plates. One other respondent had the same problem on a 35.5 and he simply had new link plates made at a local shop. I may do the same.

I'll try the picture again

Not able to shrink the file and still have the furler visible. I'll see if I can find a better picture for you. Tom
