I have just recently purchase a 94 hunter 30T. After adjusting the lower spreaders (which are not ridge) and tighten the shrouds at the chain plate it became apparent that the spreaders could still be moved. There does not seem to be any way to lock the shrouds into the spreaders so that they remain 90 deg to the mast. They seem to be relying on the tension from the shrouds to prevent them from shifting. What I am afraid of is that the spreaders will move from its 90 deg position to the mast as the pressure from the shrouds on the leeward side of the sail is released and then as the boat goes to the other tack have the spreader collapse. I would appreciate any information that any one has on this topic. Thanks
