Successfully installed a new Schaeffer Snapfurl 700 on friend's 2004 Hunter 260, but sail would not go on the foil as too tight of a fit. Sail is original Doyle 110 Genoa and easily slid up & down in the CDI furler that the Schaeffer Snapfurl is replacing. I have a 2002 Hunter 270 I recently purchased that came with a Schaeffer Snapfurl 500 that is incredibly hard to raise/lower the Genoa on due to the tight fit. I sold a 1990 Macgregor 26 that I had bought a new Schaeffer Snapfurl 500 for along with a new Genoa with a number 5 tape & had great difficulty raising & lowering the Genoa, to the point that I told the new owner to not remove the sail from the furler for winter storage as he might rip the tape getting it off & might never get it back on.
It appears that Schaeffer might have the tolerances too tight on its Snapfurl foils. I would recommend that anyone considering buying a Schaeffer Snapfurl furler take care to ensure that the tape on an existing or even a new Genoa is going to easily fit on the foil.
