Hi.. I'm just setting up a new electrical system on my 1984 Catalina 27, and I had some newbie questions about setting up the charging system.. I'm hooking up 4 6v Trojan 105s (2 in series, then those in parallel). I have no starting battery. I have an outboard with a regulated 12amp alternator. I am also hooking up an AIR-X wind vane generator, which is also regulated. How should I connect the outboard alternator and wind vane generator to the battery bank? Just throw them on any positive post? If I do that, will the voltage drop from one battery to the other (via the parallel connection) be an issue? Also, will the seperate regulators (outboard and wind) work correctly if they're both charging at the same time? I've thought about a multisource regulator, but if I can't disable the regulation on the charge source (outboard), what will be the effect of having a regulated power supply feeding another regulator. That was a mouthful. Any help would be appreciated...

PDP

Cris Sounds like all you will have is one large house bank. So, make a PDP (positive distribution post) out of a Blue Seas Power Post or a similar type of strip. Connect all your various charging (input) sources to that, NOT one of your positive posts on one of the batteries. Then simply connect the PDP to one of the bank's positive posts. No problem having multiple charging sources at any given time. No problem with perceived differences at individual battery posts because the wires between them should be sized properly. Not an issue.
