Princess oven pilot light works fine. The problem is that the constant pilot light will not ignite the main burner. Any thoughts?

Bad thermocouple

John:

I am having the same problem with my stove. I have not needed the oven, so I have not messed with it, but it probably is your thermocouple.

I had that problem...

... and the tech support fellow at Princess gave me a simple maintenance procedure--I forget exactly what it was--that fixed the problem immediately.

Marco Garcia,

Oven mercury valve..

I changed the mercury valve, the one that has the temp sensor next to the pilot.
The sensor is attached to the TAB next to the pilot. Choose a mid range oven temp, get a grill lighter and heat the sensor. If the main burner lights up, then adjust the tab, so the pilot heats it up when you choose a higher oven temperature( the pilot should increase heat). If the main burner does not lights up, check or change the valve.

Mine is a CNG.

Hope is not too confusing.

And on another 'oven/stove' thread...

Good info. Here's one that I can't figure out and need help with. I have a Force 10 two burner stove and oven/broiler. The electronic ignition is working on only one burner. I have to use a one of those BBQ lighters to get the large burner lit. I've replaced the AA battery on the bottom of the oven and cleaned everything I can get my hands on and it still won't do the 'click-click-click'. Any ideas???

Check the gap...

from the tip of the electrode. It may have become too great for the spark to jump when the igniter button is pressed. It should look like a spark plug but with a straight center pin--it could be the pin is bent or the electrode has shifted in its seat.

To Sue P...

We've had that problem and I've found that pushing the knob in firmly and twisting it back and forth around the flame indicator on the dial will usually result in hitting the spot and lighting the burner. I'm guessing that the friction of doing that cleans off whatever electrical contact surface is in the knob. It will work for a decent while after that.

Thanks for the Princess support

Thanks for all the input. I will try all the suggestions and will call Seaward and see if they have any technical support. Previous stove/ovens were Force 10. Never had a problem with them except for the ignition switch. Although both ovens seem to get dirty rather quickly. I think the solution to the dirty oven is to use the Magma bar Bar B Q.
Thanks again for the help.
