Primary Winch Location - Legend 40

It appears are if there are different pads available for locating the primaries. Mine are mid cockpit, but because I do so much single handing (even when there are others aboard) I am considering moving them aft, to near the helm.
Does anyone have their primaries already located there? Has anyone moved theirs to that location?
I’m not worried about the logistics of moving them, just curious about if there are any issues sailing with them located there.
Thanks in advance!

Well Welcome Tex. Nice to see your inquiry.
Location of winches is dependent on the skipper and crew use/access.

If you need them closer to the helm, then I would relocate them.

Note that your sheet will be a bit longer, and may contribute to tripping moving up the side of the boat. You need a fair lead from the Jib/Genoa block to the winch. You may need install a second block closer to the winch to keep a proper entry angle from the block to the winch.

Thank you. As the prior owner had them set up, they had already gone all the way aft around a block and then forward to the primaries. Usually I’ve seen this block used for spins.

I still need to work out the angles to make sure it’s a fair lead.

thank you.
