hello all,
My primary fuel filter is a small racor 110a serving my 4JH4E. What upgrade to filtration have others done?? I like the 500 that I've had for several years on my 3hm35f (old boat). Easy to change filter and service and can see any debris/ water.

Thanks!

These diesel engines are quite tolerant of little particles and water in the fuel. Compared to the water separator filters of the past all these newer Racor filters are an overkill providing no measurable benefits. I have been the victim of a Racor getting clogged multiple times during a bumpy offshore passage. I went through the three spare filter elements we had on board in a matter of six hours; after that I had no choice but to run the Racor with no filter element. Needless to say the engine ran flawlessly for the next ten hours and to my surprise when I checked the secondary filter it seemed clean. Don't get me wrong I change both fuel filters regularly but the point is that I would not worry about upgrading what you currently have. For convenience yes but not if seeking improved filtration.

Your point is well stated. Convenience in changing filters, and information as to the condition of the fuel were keys in my change.
Here is what got dumped...
