Hello, everybody...
I would like to hear some opinion on my post and appreciate
ANY RESPONSE I could get to make an intellegent decision...
I plan to buy a used Catalina 22 within next month or two...
From what I have seen so far in the classifieds and online listings there are very limited offerings of this particular boat out there...especially in the area where I live (North Florida)
So basically what it comes down to is either boats in really low price range (2K -3K)which are most likely not going to be seaworthy and/or require sizeable upfront investment to replace/refurbish outdated components...or
On the other side of the equasion there are vessels that priced in 15K-20K range that in fact relatively new and will require very little (if anything) to get you up and running...
With the latter numbers I was just wondering:
How much one expects to be paying for a brand new Catalina nowadays?
A dealer in Saint Petersburg (the closest one to my home)
has the following price quotes on their website:
Sport - $14000
Capri - $16000
MKII - $20000
Does this sound credible or is it just too good to be true?
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!

I too live in North Florida and just bought a Cat 22. It's a 1979 but very seaworthy. I looked around for several months until I found the one for me. It doesn't have roller furling, boom vang, topping lift, or other "upgrades". But I'll add these as over time. It depends on what you're looking for. This one was in the $2000-$3000 range. It's not race worthy (yet) but should do well introducing my family to sailing. Look at some of the threads on buying a used boat they helped me a lot.
