Preventing Bent Shroud T Bolts

If you are having problems with the shroud shackles binding on the chain plate eyes when raising the mast try this. From an old inner tube cut a triangle about a foot long and tapering from two inches on one end down to a point on the other end. Feed the pointed end through the opening between the T bolt and the chain plate eyebolt. Pull the piece of inner tube through the opening as far as you can then trim off the ends. This results in a tight rubber bushing which holds the shackle up in a vertical position. If you trim the bushing just right it also holds the shackle covers in place.

Another idea (after a good one!)

Also try simple tape to hold both shrouds to the life line tight. As the mast rises they will pop off and never go slack allowing the t bolts to bind. Another 2 cents worth...
