Pressurizing Fresh Water Source

I have had a problem with priming the hand pump at both sinks. I'd like to put an electric pump in and pressurize the line. Has anyone had any experience with this? When I first filled the tank, the elbow fittings under both sinks blew and dumped water under the sink areas. I don't know if I will have to replace all of the plumbing back to the tank or not. My current fittings are 15 millimeter. Hard to find at a hardware store. Any input would help.

Kevin, I had different problems, but the reuslt was the same - no water (the pump failed). I went to West Marine and bought a pump, but it had a larger hose diameter. I bought some new hose, and connected it to the "old" hose with brass barbed fittings that I found, also in West Marine. I also installed check valves in the new line. and clamped all the new connections. Another thing I found was that the mechanical connection between the pump and the counter top is weak. Use a grommet to get a better fit. Hope this helps. Ray

Pressurize water plumbing is 1/2"

So if the hand pump plumbing is smaller, unless you want to replumb the boat, you'll need a reducer. Be careful not to buy a pump that's bigger than you need, especially if you opt to keep the existing plumbing. For a 26' sailboat, you don't need more than 1.6 gpm.

When you filled your tank and the fittings leaked they must have been too loose. I have had problems with pumping water as well. It goes well when the tank is full but as it goes down it takes longer to pump. I have put check valves in line to keep some water near the faucet to prime it better. My faucets have always leaked at the handle so I am going to put in a new pump next weekend. I have tried to put electric pumps at the faucet what they do not have pull the water from the tank. Priming pump

Everything the other responses said sounds good. Wonder if you should check the air vent for the water tank. When I fill my water tank, I can hear the air coming out. If I overfill it, water will come out of the vent. I also have problems with my pumps. Covering the water spout with your finger, and pumping the handle several times will prime itself. You will feel the air first, which will try to escape a little bit. This seems to keep it working for a while. Maybe this will help get you by until you change out your pumps. Good Luck...
