Peggie, Awhile back I asked a question about my pressure water system lossing prime on our 84 H31 with a Shur-Flo pump. Your advise was to replace the diaphragm. When I went to remove the pump, I realized I had misinformed you. The pump is a Jabsco Par-Mat #44020-0000. Is replacing the diaphragm still the best fix? Thanks, Bob

Air Leak?

Could it be possible there is an air leak? I've had this problem with the Quest piping and sometimes it can be hard to get a seal on the pipe threads. Another item to check is the tank vent to ensure it's not plugged. I've had this happen too.

Is the Jabsco pump a diaphragm or impeller pump?

My office has been torn apart to be painted and I can't get in there till tonight...so I can't look it up. If it's an impeller pump, it won't have a diaphragm TO replace. However, impellers do wear out over time. So do valves. If the pump has ever run dry for more than a few seconds, the friction heat will "fry" the impeller, which will prevent it from priming till the impeller is replaced (and btw, same is true of an impeller macerator pump). However, if it's a diaphragm pump, it doesn't matter what the make/model is...99% of the time, a failed diaphragm is culprit if it won't prime.

Good question.....

I don't know for sure, but i think it is probably a diaphragm. Bob
