pressure cap connected to overboard vent

Peggy, I took the pressure relief cap from the vented loop(which I dont think was airtight and oozing funky odors) and T pieced in a hose with a loop going to the air vent overboard. Since this is above the waterline does this sound safe? The head flushes fine and will not discharge overboard with this new addition. Thanks!

Pressure relief cap????????

There is no pressure relief cap in a vented loop...however, there should be a one way valve in the nippled at the top of it that only lets ari in, nothing out. It does need cleaning/replacement from time to time. That you've chosen to defeat that and add a hose that sends whatever shouldn't go through it overboard shouldn't hurt a thing...but the right way to deal with it is, clean the valve or replace it.
