I have a great Hunter 34 with a hand operated anchor windlass. this windlass is recessed in the anchor locker and the way it is presently rigged, I can't get anywhere near the 180' turn of the chain on the gypsy without holding the chain up with one hnad and cranking with the other. Obviously this is not fun. I want to install a powwer windlass and am considering a deck mount with a gypsy horizontal to the deck giving me a 180' turn before the chain drops into the locker through a hawse pipe. Will this work? Does anyone recommend a particular make and a mounting location?

Windlass

Have been considering installing a windlass on my Hunter 34. (Gettint tooo old for hoisting the anchor by hand!) I thought the best place to install the windlass would be aft of the the anchor locker. PROBLEM - How do you do this in a work like manner? How do you remove the liner so that you can reinforce the deck so that you do not pull the windlass and a bunch of fiberglass out? Also in order to run the wiring concealed it is necessary to pull or remove the head liner. I posted an article some time ago but never received any responses. You can e-mail me at steiny1642@aol.com if you want to take this off line. Charlie
