Great thanks for the info i have a boat to shore charger and all the lights and all electronics work fine on the boat , iam am woundering now if there is a reason that the motor is not conected because of some kind of interference between the charger and motor . Will the charger keep my battery filled up enough while on trips and if not dont i need to engine to recharge it on the water incase the battery goes dead . thanks for the help . Brad

It Depends

Brad, What kind of motor do you have? Does it have an alternator./charger? My boat has an Evinrude 6 but others during the 25.5's production run may have had others. The original motor may even have been replaced by a previous owner. I would have the engine checked by a qualified outboard mechanic to see if you have the charger and if its operating. No telling why it may have been disconnected. My 6 has a 4 amp alt/charger but I doubt that it puts out that much. Even if it charged at 4, it would take a lot of motoring to build up much capacity. I have used mine to pump the battery up enough to restore running lights and cabin lights but they don't draw much amperage. If you plan to use the boat for extended time away from shore power and have need for more capacity, you might consider a second battery. There are other options, such as solar power, but that can be pricey. Dick Vance H-25.5 "Honey Bear"
