Power cord management

Hello again everyone
Looking for a simple but effective way to secure my power cord to my lifeline, part of it is clipped to the dock, but what about the other part of the cord?
At the moment I have temporarily installed clips to the cord, but is there a better way?

I leave just enough cord out to make the connection (with a little slack) to the dock, leave the rest coiled on the stern seat, and have a loop of line to hold it to the pushpit (sorry, no photos). You don't want your shore power cord to turn into a dockline (don't ask me how I know this).

I just let it sit on the side deck. The shore side is usually wrapped around the pedestal to take any strain off the plug. Never had an issue with this method in 20+ years.

My boat is on a mooring, I don’t have this issue, but friends have used a product called “CordPro“ for their dock side power cords. They drain any water away and neatly store the cords allowing you to extend out only the amount you need to deal with raising and lowering of tides and dock movements.
I use them to store my portable home generator power cords. They really do work.
Take a look at them, may be something you could use.

Just leaving the cord running neatly inside the toe rail can work fine. In our case it causes water to drain in a way that leaves dirt marks, so we use two hangers like these to keep the cord hanging from the lifeline - Amazon.com

I wrap my cord around the pedestal then just do a wrap around a Staunton base if I feel the need, but usually just the friction bending back to the plug is plenty. I don't run over my life line.

I repurpose the galvanized 'S' hooks from those rubber cargo straps that I find on the road to hang my shore power cord from the life lines. No cost, last forever and keeps the cord secure and clean from deck crud. Been using them for years and never a problem. I use a vice to compress one end to fit the lifeline diameter. Published and article awhile ago about the manufacturing process here: Hunter 42 Owner Modifications and Upgrades

I second the use of Velcro straps. These are just handy to have on the boat for a bijillion uses. We don't like to leave our power code on the deck because a) it collects grunge and b) I am not smart enough to not step on it and nearly break my neck. We do enough overnighting at strange docks that we like having options and straps give options.

The problem we always have is rigging something up that takes the strain at the outlet on the dock. These virtually never have threads to screw onto to hold the cord in place. Lots of people on our dock have all sorts of improvised solutions with varying degrees of success.

I keep a bit of line attached with a rolling hitch to both ends of my power cord. On the occasions when I need to take up strain, I can slide them into position and tie them off to whatever is convenient. This line is also convenient to keep the cord tidy when storing it.

I take a single wrap around a dock handrail post that is conveniently located approximately one foot from the power pedestal. I use West Marine Velcro bands(2) to secure the power cord across the back of the stern pulpit. Keeps the strain off the cord & power inlet. The Velcro bands are one of the very few bargains at West!
