Power Clutch Slipping

I have a 2000 model H-260. The power clutch for the main halyard is slipping. Is there a way to adjust these devices to tighten the hold on the halyard. If not, is there a good replacement that uses the same holes.

Worn halyard?

I have a 2001 model and was having the same problem. I cut about 12" off the original halyard line so the worn part isn't in the powercleat. Seems to help. Cheaper than rebuilding the powercleat or replacing the halyard. Used the buntline hitch to re-attach the shackle to the halyard.

Day 1

We noticed that the main would not stay up snug from day 1. Even using the winch to get it up nice and tight, after 5-10 min, we would notice the main starting to bag along the luff. We would tighten it back up and and in a few minutes the same thing. We have always assumed that the clutch was slipping. Others on this list have changed out the clutch for this reason. Now we plan to test and see if it could be the halyard stretching instead. Hate to change out the clutch, if we don't have to.

No need to guess

Try marking the halyard with a pen or tie a piece of string or something just foreward of the clutch. It will be obvious if the clutch has slipped when you notice the main sagging. If you harden the main halyard every 10 minutes, does it eventually stop stretching or does it keep on slipping? :) ...RickM...
