I notice that my main halyard was slipping. Doesn't seem to be any crud in the power cleat that I can see. It wasn't even at the spot where it runs through the cleat when the main is all the way up. I was sailing with a double reef at the time. Am I looking at a generally worn Halyard or replacing the original power cleat on my 97 Hunter 26? Is there a rebuild or adjustment that I should be looking into? Can't find much on the forums.

If you're using a power cleat instead of a

Clutch, that is most of the problem, as they are not designed to handle that kind of load. Halyards do wear, and I cut about a foot off mine every year to move the wear points. This year, after 6 years, I replaced it with a lower stretch halyard. This helps in windy conditions, when extra luff tension is desired.
