Peggy, I wish to replace my pressurized fresh water hoses to/from my hot water heater. There is currently about 2 feet of 5/8 in. black rubber Goodyear hose on both inlet and outlet(s) of the heater. They connect by hose barb connectors to the braided type hose and follow a rather intricate path ending under the galley sink for connection to the sinks and shower. I am told the braided hose should not be connected directly to the water heater because of the heat. The hose types I've seen are good to 150 degrees, yet I know my engine must heat the water to around 180 degrees. Yet the black rubber hoses I've found are not for potable water. What would you recommend? FYI...my total hose runs are about 30 feet each.

Water Hose

My first step would be to call Catalina and find out if they have the hoses or where they recommend you get them, I have always had good luck with them in the past.

Here's a chart of which hoses can be used for what

Why bug Catalina when you find the info yourself with a little effort...AND add to your knowledge base. It took me all of two minutes to Google up this chart of all Shields (which is what WM carries) potable water hoses and the applications for which they can be used at: http://www.shieldshose.com/hoses/potable.html If you're not comfortable using one of 'em to connect directly to the hot water tank, you can safely go with black potable water/sanitation hose...which is prob'ly what's on your boat now. I'd also shop price for it unless you only need a couple of feet...WM's prices for everything have gone through the roof--even above mfrs' list prices now on many items.

Peter, thanks for the input - my boat is a Hunter 37. And Peggy, thank you for the links. They will be used. jj
