Check out the Hunter 25 Photos and remember warmer days. I just posted 4 photos off my trip from Coddington Cove to Block Island, RI. I was the idiot who went surfing in the dinghy so I could take the spinnaker pictures. Happy Holidays, Daniel H. Pitman s/v Essayons 1974 H25

some questions for Dan

Great pictures, Dan!!! That is such a nice part of the world to take pictures "at sea" too. As I am a new H-25 owner I have some Qs: Where is your outboard? Do you have a boom crutch, or what is that thing across the back of the cockpit? Do you have a traveller? Did YOU paint it or did you buy it like that? What kind of paint is it? I like that the transom drains are still white-- they are like a signature of this model. Any pet peeves with the boat? JC 2

This boat is an odd duck, to say the least...

I purchased this boat in NJ. It was in Don Bodeman's back yard (at his shop). He sent some pictures of her to Good Old Boat Magazine for his article on the Cheribini Hunters but the editor chose not place pictures of the H25 in the final print. Bummer! The outboard is hidden in a custom built motor well. The motor well was built by one of the boats former owners. This motor well give the boat great lines but is a curse. It will only fit older OB's and they are constantly starved for O2. The thing across the back of the cockpit is my solar panel. I keep Essayons on a ball and this was the best way to keep the batteries fully charged. I have a traveller and it is awesome. I needed to gain more control over the shape of the main. I have wicked weather helm when the winds approach 15 knots(which is common in Newport,RI). I also wanted to gain some room in the cockpit. The solution was to add a traveller. I mounted the traveller in front of the hatch and ran the controls and mainsheet aft. This is much easier said than done. I have had to tweek with system a few times but I now have it set up properly and I am very happy with the results. I repainted the hull and topsides myself. I am a ASE Certified Master Collision Repair Expert and have been painting cars for over 10 years. I used IMRON, made by Du Pont. It is a Catylized Poly-Urethane. If you are not trained in catylized paints I recommend you steer clear off using this product, it is very expensive and sets up quickly. I used a fleet Blue Metallic for the hull and Bright White for the topsides. My transom drains are original but I use then as the OB's exhaust pipes. If you have any more question let me know. Essayons is a great boat and I spend every free moment onboard during the summer. Life on the hard is rough but I manage. Daniel H. Pitman s/v Essayons
