I have created a yahoo group to help plan the event for a Norhtern California Hunter Group. If you are interested in participating - send an email to Nor_Cal_Hunter_Sailors-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . I also posted a letter that was publiched in the Latitude 38. Below is the original letter - they modified is a little. I have recieved over 20 emails of interest. BTW - if the owner of hunterowners.com want to host the group - let me know. Here is the letter. It had the Caption - WE HUNTER OWNERS HAD CATALINA ENVY - page 100. (Not my choice of captions) My wife and I have owned Hunter Sailboats for over 10 years. One negative of the Hunter in the Bay Area has been the lack of a Hunter group. Catalina has what seems to be an active group – which has left me with Catalina envy. I recently posted a query on www.hunterowners.com and there appears to be a strong interest in a Hunter group. A group of us met on March 10th at the Ballena Bay Yacht Club and the idea seems to be catching on. We are looking to have an event at the Ballena Isle Martina sometime this fall that might include a workshop on how to trim sails on a Hunter, and possibly a local mechanic on the idiosyncrasies of Yamar Diesels. We also discussed the possibility of a race. This might be of special interest because Hunters are not usually purchased for racing, so this would be a race where a Hunter will definitely win. If any readers are interested – please email steve@dalelawfirm.com - and I will put you on a distribution list. Please let me know when you email if you are interested in promoting the event. Happy sailing…… Stephen W. Dale Playpen Related link

Would Hunter Owners be interested in a race?

Those of us on the planning group are discussing the possibility of a race connected with a Hunter gathering - possibly in the South Bay this summer. Would there be interest? To join the planning group or follow activities - go to the link submitted with the post. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Nor_Cal_Hunter_Sailors/ * * * * * * * * * * Also - here is the link to the Latitude letter. My wife and I have owned Hunter sailboats for 10 years. One drawback of being a Hunter owner in the Bay Area is that there isn't a Hunter group. Catalina owners, on the other hand, have what seems to be an active group - which has left us with Catalina envy. I recently posted a query on www.hunterowners.com and there appears to be a strong interest in a Hunter group. On March 10, some of us met at the Ballena Bay YC, and our idea seems to be catching on. We are looking to have an event at the Ballena Isle Marina sometime this fall, with workshops on how to trim sails, take care of diesels and so forth. Our group also discussed the possibility of having a race. We know Hunters aren't usually purchased for racing, but this could be an event in which a Hunter was sure to win. If any Hunter owners in your readership are interested, they can email me, and I'll put them on our distribution list. When emailing, please let me know if you're interested in helping promote the event. Stephen W. Dale Playpen Alameda Readers - Creating an owner's group is a great idea, as it would enable folks to share knowledge specific to their boats, generate enthusiasm about the various designs, and ultimately tend to make Hunters worth more money in this area. http://www.latitude38.com/letters/200604.htm
