I have sailed as a guest out of both Charleston Yacht Club

http://www.charlestonyachtclub.com/

and

Carolina Yacht Club which is alson in Charleston. Both have mast up storage with hoists to launch. The first is more of a sailing club, the second, much, much more of a Yacht Club.

There is also James Island Yacht Club, but I believe it is mostly a dinghy sailing club.

Hope that helps.

John,

I have been sailing in Charleston now for 3 years on a friends boat and have just recently purchased a Catalina 30. I am currently serving in Kuwait with my Army Reserve unit but wanted to pass along a couple of links to marinas in the Charleston area.

I keep my boat at Charleston Harbor Marina: http://www.charlestonharbormarina.com/index.htm

Some others to check out are:

Charleston is an excellent place to sail. Someone already sent you some marina information, but in regards to racing look up CORA. We even have high school sailing teams. You'll love it here if you make the move.
