I mentioned in a prior post where I had located some non-CARB Jerry Jug replacements. I think I also mentioned that I had found spouts in an old parts store. Well, I use those for the fuel containers for my OB and Honda 2000. They work great even if there is no vent. Well, I found a source for replacement online. I ordered four others for the house and our lake boat. I know these work on some CARB jugs; don't know if they work on all. Anyhow, for those suffering seeking relief: this may be it. http://www.google.com/products?q=772077+Jerry+Can+Replacement+Parts&hl=en&aq=f

Watch out for the insurance man

They may not pay your insurance if there is fire sometime. Certified cans aren't that expensive to start with. Why?

Because of how terribly the certified cans spill, weather, and perform. Cracking and splitting is a pretty common problem.

Those nozzles are really pretty terrible.

Mot A Fire Risk

The short answer is because the CARB cans are dangerous and spill large quantities of fuel. I have a whole collection of nozzles which have come apart or failed. Naturally, they do that over a hot engine. These nozzles are designed for gasoline jerry jugs, so I can't imagine an insurer trying to take a coverage defense.

Thanks Rick, The first CARB can I had for the dink had a spring loaded nozzle that failed in the closed position in Avalon, I gutted it with needle nosed pliers and plugged it with a rag for the ride home. Tried unsuccessfully for a replacement nozzle (they are all different sizes and threads!) and now have one with some levers that feel like they are gonna break every time you use it. I've amassed a collection of small gas cans with only one having a cap and nozzle that fit.

I think these fit the ones you are describing that failed in Avalon. At least the ones I got at the auto parts store did. I know what you mean about those ones with the levers. They are third generation and I bought a five gallon one. Impossible to hold the can and lever at the same time. Nozzle is short too resulting in big spills. And, I have had it stick. Different idea, same result. Hope the cap and nozzle fit it, or I wasted a ton of money on that can too.
