Ever want to tie a lifting rope to two fixed ends ( like the bow and stern of a dinghy or kayak) to lift it off the boat. Getting the length of the lines to be the correct length can be a bugger.
I learned this knot today and it is simple and a great solution. It is a slipable bowline to allow you to adjust the lengths of the ends to balance the item you want to lift or tie down.
