I have a 1984 Hunter 31...the portholes are made by a company called Gray Enterprises...they have small screen inserts for when the ports are open but the plastic surrounding the screen has broken on a number of them and I am looking to get some new ones but have not been able to find ones that fit...has anyone replaced theirs and where did they get them. Thanks.

Screens

My 1985 Hunter 34 had some broken screens and plastic frames. The frames are PVC and therefore you can use a PVC glue from the hardward store. I found I could easily scrape off the old screens. I bought some fiberglass screening and after cutting it out to fit the frame, I attached it with the same glue. The glue was in a small container with a swab. Any PVC glue for PVC pipes etc should work.

Pompanette has them

Bob: Gray Marine is owned by Bomar. You can find their web site at www.pompanette.com I think you can order them through West Marine, BoatsUS and JSI. As Gene mentioned, if you use a scraper to remove the old screen from the frame. Then just apply a suitable glue to the frame. Place the frame on a piece of fiberglass screen cloth and you have it. When the glue is dry you can just use a knife or cutter to trace around the outside of the frame and it is like new.

screens

I just replaced mine on my 1983 h31. The parts department at Pompanette was very helpful and the screens were shippen quickly. If it helps you need to know the size of the inside trim. FYI the screens for mine were GS414-28 (larger screen) & GS512 -28 (smaller screen) Chuck S/V Kililani
