A new gin pole for our 240 came in when we bought the boat. The top wire with loops went from port to starboard instead of fore and aft. Hunter sent a replacement pole, but this one is the same way. Has anyone else had this problem? I believe I'll just make my own gin pole, unless I'm doing something wrong and the top wire is supposed to go from port to starboard when set in the mast correctly. At the moment, we use the gin pole with wire fore and aft and just carefully set the pole into the mast, but it's not straddling the ridge in the mast. It's just sitting on it. By the way... love the boat.

Easy Fix

Drill a new hole 90 degrees from the one that is there and then go to West Marine and swage on a new loop. I would not use it the way it is too easy to slip and mangle your mast.

Hunter should send a new one and make sure it is correct but if you are in a hurry you can do it yourself.

Thanks for the reply, gentlemen. I was about to re-drill when I got a call from Hunter! ( amazing ) The tech seems now to understand the problem, and is working on getting us the correct pole. If anyone ever wondered if Hunter returns their voice messages, the answer is yes! Things are looking up. I just wanted this posted in case anyone else ever had the same problem.
