I am not sure everybody is doing with thier port screens after they become old and ripped up, but I have found a way to repair them. Takes about ten minuts for each screen and the money that you will save, well, wow!All you have to do is remove the old tatered screen from the frame. Now take some 80 grit sand paper and clean the rest of the screen that stuck to the frame. Now once the frame is clean of all screen and is smooth, wash it in soap and warm water. Set that aside for now. Go grab yourself a pice of wood about 8"x 20. You want the wood to be about 2" larger than the screen frame. Cover the wood with wax paper. Make sure it is held nice and tight. Use masking tape to holed the wax paper to the back of the wood. Now get your new screen (use a high quality fiberglass type screen. Cut it larger than the screen frame place it on top of the wax paper you just put on the wood and tape the edges down onto the wood board. Make sure it is nice and flat but not too tight. Now go get the frame. You will need to get some super glue. I used SUPER JET (CA). You can get this stuff at most hobby shops. Take your frame and run a 1/8" bead of glue on the screen side. Take your frame and place it on the screen. Hold it for about 2-3 minuts. Using a razer blade cut the screen and wax paper off the wood. Peal the wax paper off of the screen and set the new screen and frane aside for about 10 minuts. Once dry cut the extra sreen away, and now you have a new screen for your port. I am not sure what new screens cost for the ports but I only spent about $8 bucks to repair the 3 screens on my Hunter 285. And they look like factory new!!
