Just curious if anybody has found a nice fitting rain shield to go over their Beckson ports?

Hmmmmm... Just one more thing to catch as you walk by on deck. I wanted to add them too, but what to add that doesn't get snapped off or cut your ankle!
Maybe something that simply covers? Like a nice cloth or even clear vinyl cover that can be removed when you are using the cabin? Hmmmm....

We installed a clear heavy plastic one on the port opening that opens from the quarterberth to the cockpit.....It lasted a bit but
hit the back of everyone's legs when they were sitting in the cockpit so we removed it. I think they would be less of an issue
on the head ports.

Or... How about a wick? Maybe glue a piece of string from in the port opening, just outside the screen, to just outside the frame, laying in one of the rain channels. It should draw water constantly from the wet area inside the frame, near the port, to the dry area outside the frame.

My 26 has the Beckson with the rain channels however, due to the angle of the port, those drains don't work the best.

I added the Beckson rain guards to my Beckson opening ports. Best $35 (each) I've spent. On my boat I can keep my ports open when it is raining and not have to worry about rain water coming in but always close them when sailing as they do not stop the spray when beating into the wind.

And no one steps on those things and breaks them? I think I may give them a try!

Local marina store ordered them from their supplier. One week delivery.

No danger of stepping on them. Not the fragile clear plastic but made from same tough material as the Beckson port. Glued on the upper half of the port with the same stuff. They do block the view from the upper half of the port.

My B323 has sloped cabintop, but these keep the water out pretty well I also got the engine panel cover. Nice units.

Haha. They are new, but no one can really see in. She is just unnecessarily worried. Silly girl. But... It never hurts to keep the Admiral happy! :)

I'm not certain he was talking about the Beckson Rain Drain Hatches with the drains.....I thought he was talking about the
clear shields that cover the ports during rain...I think the Beckson Rain Drain ports design would work fine on the head ports..
at least on our boat, but that is not what O'Day used....they don't have the channels required to drain the water.

I installed new beckson ports with the rain drains, but they are canted back when mounted flush to the salon sides, so they gather a bit of rain in them anyway. The rain covers may prevent that water from collecting there.

Yup mine too but I don't worry about that, I just want to leave the ports open for those straight down rain days. Of course we all know they make a huge difference for wind flow through the cabin.
