We recently installed our new companionway cover onto our existing snaps on the boat. (We had to install the snaps onto the cover to match up to the boat snaps.) Some of the snaps fit tighter than others. While removing the cover yesterday one of the snaps pulled out from the fiberglass. Has anyone had this happen? If so, can you use 3m 5200 and just put the screw back in or do I need to repair the hole and start from scratch?

I don't think it makes much difference what you use (as long as it works). You could also use some epoxy in the hole too.

Drill it and fill the hole with epoxy putty and reset the screw properly.

I use Marine Tex for drill&fill projects all the time. Works great. It is a little pricey, but well worth it to me.

What about using a small bolt and nut instead of a screw, or are you able to change it out like that?
