This if for all of you out there that have a pop-top on your boat. Do you have problems with water coming when it is closed from rain, deck washing, etc? If not, what have you used to create a good seal? I have an 83 Mac 25 and recently removed what remained of the dry rotted foam that was previously used. I was able to see daylight through the gap under my closed, and dogged down, pop-top even before removing the old "seal". I would like some advice on what to use replace it with. I thought of using pipe insulation from the local mega hardware store but I am unsure on how to secure it to the pop-top. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Chris M25 Chara

I have been looking for something like this, too. The closest I have found is a product at www.rochfordsupply.com. On the left menu, select boating, then select boating miscelaneous. There are two kinds of seal there. John S

Simple Rubber Foam

Hi, I just re-did the seals on my pop-top and hatch with simple 7/16" thick foam from the home improvement store. They have it in 3/4 and 1.5 inch width. Just peal off the old stuff, clean the surface with a solvent (just trying to clean off the old foam powder) and re-stick the new foam. Be sure to peal the paper off before you attach it, as the paper will make it hard to go around corners. It took me about two hrs and I now see no light around any of the hatches. Unfortunately, I did fine a nice crack in the pop-top. I guess the previous owner tried to walk across it...but that is for another post. Good luck, mark
