Does anyone have photos of a pop-top enclosure installed on their 260. I have never seen what one looks like from the cockpit looking forward. I was wondering what the entry way was like. Thanks

pop top

not quite from behind the wheel, but you get the idea. I am thinking of sewing a canvas flap to replace the zip out window and hatchboards.

Thanks

Thanks for the picture. Am I correct to assume there is another piece that goes all the way down to the sole? If so how does one open and close it to go in and out?

2 Different Tops

There are 2 different tops you can get the "deluxe" version has zip out windows with bug screen and I think a bugscreen flap that goes to the bottom. I have the basic version, you use the hatch boards.

Deluxe Top?

I have what I think is the deluxe version described by Ashley. It has zip out panels inside the bug screen and the hatchboard side only goes a little below the top hatch board. The zip out panels roll down allowing air through through the mesh. The hatchboard side seems like it has enough gaps at the bottom below the top of the top hatchboard that bugs can get it if they try a little. I wedged a towel in between to keep them out the last time I overnighted. I'm considering velcro, or something to get a better seal.

I have the deluxe version with the screens and zip out windows. My companionway cover goes all the way to the bottom of the hatch. There is a picture in the photo forum during our Door County cruise. It is a great peice for sleeping on board, but it is too tall to see over and sail with it up.

Pop-tops

The pop-top enclosures for the Hunter 25.5 and Catalina 25 do not allow the use of the boom vangs when they are up. Forward visibility, a big advantage in these designs, is greatly reduced with the top up. I'd like to find a source for pop-top enclosures for our 25.5 for when we're under anchor or at the dock, but I don't think I'd want to have it up while under way.

Don't moor with the poptop up

I was motoring back to my mooring buoy from my club's dock. The poptop was up and we had quite some wind that we had to head into to get to the can. The poptop caught the wind and caused my boat (H260) to drift and we had the toughest time getting her to her can. Note to self: Always take down the poptop to make sure that your docking and mooring approaches go smoothly.
