Pop top cover for a Hunter 23.5

I am thinking of purchasing a Pop top cover with windows and screens for my Hunter 23.5. I'd like to hear from anyone who has one and how they like or dislike it. I tried to get a dodger but they are custom jobs and verrrrrrrry expensive. Also, if you have one, do you sail withth cover up? They recommend not doing that (apparently can't see forward). However most sailor love to overcome these types of problems.Any thoughts?Hayden

I have one . . .

I bought one (used) on this web site. I works great for those times you want to spend the night on the boat. I would not try to sail with it in place. The screens and flaps are necessary to keep out the rain and allow ventilation in the warmer months . . .good luck!

Bought 2 over the years

I purchased Pop Top covers for both my 23.5 and my 26. They were never meant to be up when sailing, but when spending the night or at anchor, they are awesome. On my 23.5, it meant you could stand up in the cabin to get dressed or cook on the galley stove. They also help with ventilation. Take your time installing it. Drill one snap a little off and you are hosed.

Got one

I have one and it is great. If you can't find one in good shape. Buy the one that is torn or rotted out and make a new one using the old one as a pattern. Mine is a tent style and covers the whole top when raised and in place. we survived a night of 20 to 25 knot winds last october and no heater but body heat. It is so worth it to stand up and straighten your neck and back. Good luck. Jonathan

I bought the pop top here when they were on sale back in the late fall, and haven't installed it yet. I have had the companionway cover for a couple years. Do they use the same snaps or will I have to install more?Thanks...
