I own a 1986 Hunter 23.5 that i purchased new..Seems likke every year the problem I have gets worse..In higher winds the boat performs poorly winward on a port tack...I was on Lake Michigan in 20-25 knot winds waves building to 5 main reefed and 100% jib..Sailing to starboard there was enough power to poiint tite and still go thru the Lake Michigan steep short waves..When goin to port the boat had no power would not go thru waves and would actualy stall..falling off wind in these conditions trying to regain speed is to say the least exciting...I have tried the usual checks on rigging and mast being centered and repositioning cars etc but it gets worse every year...I was at the Miami Boat show last winter and the Hunter Rep blew me off referred me to an oout of business dealer..I sail the boat alot but when the wind kicks up it becomes more of a chore than fun..i do solo heer into the Norht Channel and would like to fix tis is possible any sugestions???

A guess

Is it possible your swing keel is swinging to much to the side?(could the slot even wear?) Maybe your slipping? Thats the only thing I could think of if everything looks right topside.
