My H26 has enough of a weather helm that I've always felt trapped at the tiller; leaving to adjust the halyards or jib would cause the boat to spin out. I just looped two old bicycle inner tubes over the stern cleats and tiller; that gives me a few more seconds on a steady heading. Should also work to keep the rudder centered while trailering.

Sail trim?
as long as you're sailing with both sails, realize that by sheeting in on the headsail, you create lee helm, and by sheeting in the main you create weather helm. Try adjusting your sail trim until the boat will go straight.

Also look at your rudder
If your rudder is not all the way down it will increase the weather helm immensely.

Love the tiller tamer. I used to have one on my San Juan 24, worked like a charm. The big question is did someone come up with an affordable way to lock in the Edson wheel yet?? Without buying the wheel brake and disassembling the whole thing? I use a bungee cord and 'tie' the wheel to the column. This particular bungee has a loop and a ball. Bought it at Home Depot, it was meant to secure things I think. I use them also to tie down my stuff while trailering. The only problem is that when quickly disconnecting the bungee it snaps like a mother, and hey, it really hurts!
