When I married Annie(Scratchy), I inherited a poontoon boat. I now go pontooning.Any thoughts how to rig this rascal so it can sail like a catamaran? Ha!Crazy Dave Condon
Dave,You can borrow my Hobie 17 rig and add leeboards to the pontoon boat. Attach a larger foil to the motor so it makes a better rudder and you'll be all set!Actually Pontoon boats are great for our summer no wind no sailing season.FrankLadd333@aol.com
behind like a dinghy! I pontooned for years and then lost it in a storm. Best day in my boating life. Collected the insurance and was out of boating. Then my wife wanted to take a sunset sail. 30 minutes into the sail I was hooked and am now on my second sail boat (a Hunter 23.5). I've never looked back. Maybe when I'm 80 and can no longer pull lines, I'll return to a pontoon.Hayden
Hayden;Sometimes launching can be fun particuly when the ramps are high and dry. So I pulled a Hunter 326 (daysailor ?) onto a bridge with of course the mast up blocking the bridge. Of course I used a new mast raise system that is called a 60 ton crane but the cost was cheap! Ha! Then I craned the boat up off the trailer, over the bridge and down into the water. Of course I was on the boat saluting Wild Man Anthony standing on the bridge. It took less than 10 minutes to launch this daysailor which was not bad timing.I forgot to mention that a bass boat held us away from the bridge as the winds were gusting up to 25 Knots. Not a problem and this is one time I would kiss the bass boat's grits.Started the engine and away we went sailing on this little 326 Hunter daysailor. The boat is only 32 feet long and 10' 10" wide. Would you consider this a daysailor one which you would lanuch on a daily basis?Crazy Dave Condon
