We have a Gulstar 50 sloop with three heads and lots of sanatation hose.
We installed poly x 2 years ago because the sheilds and other less expensive hoses began to creat odor in the third year. This is our only hope to solve a problem with odor and hope it works forever. We have owned this boat for 30 years.

Poly x is Shields. I don't know if it is a new improved version but if you leave black water or stagnant sea water in it, any hose will permeate eventually. Methinks this is just a new bandaid to an old problem. Regardless, good luck.

Alden !
I am drooling.
We are in brackish water in the north end of the Ches. bay and we do pump each head 15 strokes when leaving the boat. This stuff is so expensive but I will announce the event if it ever smells.
I have a J prop for sale 19 in for a 1 1/4 in shaft - perfect condition if you know any that want to try one.

Which "less expensive" hoses failed in 2-3 years? Name names.

I've been doing some long term side-by-side testing of hose fitted so as to be filled with poop at all times; while clear vinyl and rubber exhaust hose failed, all other flag-ship hoses are doing well.

Consider replacing as much of the hose as you can with PVC. It's rigid so hast to be suspended in a way that prevents vibration damage. It's more work than installing hose. But once in it's good for life. unless you step on it. When the hose needs replacing much less of it. (i.e. less expensive.) If you can arrange it so the hose parts of the line are not in the standing liquid part you may never have to change the hose. I have all PVC except a 6" run of sanitation hose from toilet to PVC. It's been there 5 years. I'll tell you iin another 5 years if it's better than all hose.
