I looked through prior threads on the subject of Poly Glow and it was closed with the last comment made in 2009. I have bought the product but have yet to apply it. There seems to be those who approve and disapprove, so was wondering if there were any new thoughts since the last note in 2009.

My boat is a 1984 and I have made many attempts, other than professional work, to get the shine to last more than a few weeks on the water, Lake Erie. Thanks to all for taking the time to respond.

I think you are looking under the incorrect spelling - try a search for Poli Glow which has many recent comments. Also look under "last resort"

Ah yes, thanks Don. I had set up the search funtion incorrectly to block out some of the reviews.

Have you tried Maine Sail's guide to buffing/polishing gelcoat.

You may want to review the article and try it in a limited area to check the results before you go by way of the P.G. treatment. Sometimes it may the last result.

The biggest complaint is trying to remove P.G. It is also not cheap and you still need to redo it perodically.

The key to getting a long lasting shine is proper prep work and where you keep your boat. Poli Glow seems to hold up best in non-tropical environments. Although it does wear from fenders when the boat is kept at a slip for extended periods of time.

Before I learned to properly buff and polish gelcoat, I used Poli Glow on my 1976 Pearson 28. It came out looking new and lasted all season. I would clean and re-apply each spring for the season. I was always very satisfied with it although polishing gelcoat is the proper way to restore shine.

I'm an Island Girl man myself. It's different from Poli Glow in that it's a constant resin. Check out the website. I've been using for ten years, to great effect.

use Island Girl I have used it on two boats and wow it is fantastic. It does require some work it is not a NO WORK finish but it si a GREAT finish with a modest amount of work. It is my favorite to bring back the new look. On my white boat it looks super whit and bright
