VertGlas

No, but I used VertGlas (a polymer based system), this spring. It removed all oxidation on the hull. The end result was a mirror finish. My boat is a 1989. No more waxing the hull. Here is the link: http://www.lovettmarine.com/files/vertglas.asp

Poli Glow

Jeff: I applied Poliglow 4-years ago to my 83 C-22. Just starting to need another coat. Did a great job.

Poli Glow works great!!

I just finished with my boat last weekend and it looks like new. You need to make sure that you prepair the fiberglass before coating. If you do not get all stains and oxidiation off before Poli glow it will seal them in. If you follow the instructions, it will look like new when your done. Follow the link below and read the reviews about their product.

no prep polishing?

I'm about ready to Poliglow our C22 and I noticed the instructions say to NOT rubout/polish first. We've got a few little gelcoat repairs to do and some scuff marks to get rid of so I thought it might be best to just buff out all the topsides to get a more uniform surface. Seems like if I just do spot areas it won't come out even. Poliglow says their prep/cleaner is strong enough that one doesn't need to polish first ... but I wonder? Any thoughts? Also wondering about stopping the poliglow at the rub rail or doing the whole boat - is it too slippery for walking surfaces, and is there enough in the kit for the whole boat?

Check archives

Hi Jeff - In addition to the good comments in this thread, there is a considerable amount of input on Poliglow and Island Girl in the archives. Try a search and enjoy! Trevor

Oh, the anticipation....

The Poli-Glow kit arrived today and I can't wait to get started. Having just bought my C25, I'm looking forward to our first intimate bonding experience together. Now if it would just stop raining. Steve

How would you accomplish this?

I'm reading the Poli-Prep instructions last night and it says, "Warning: Poli-Prep may remove or create runs in bottom paint if it comes in contact." Since this stuff is supposed to be sprayed on the hull, scrubbed and then rinsed off, are there any suggestions as to how one would avoid having it come into contact with my 2 week old bottom paint job? I suppose I could capsize her (in 30 feet of water so I don't have to remove the mast) and then apply Poli-Prep but somehow that doesn't seem like the appropriate solution. Thanks, Steve

It's not a problem....

The Poli-Prep folks told me that as long as the bottom paint is submerged while applying their stuff, it won't be a problem. Cool. A bribe of some free beer to a few hefty neighbors to just sit on the boat while I work should solve the problem. (Or, maybe I'll just load the boat with beer and won't need the neighbors.) Steve
