I have a bought a Hunter 310 and am curious if anybody has its polair diagram available for understanding the behavior of the boat in several wind forces and angles... This actually handles about the Velocity Made Good and speed. Thanks Peter de Bruin - The Netherlands

Hunter, as far as I know, has no polars for their designs. And the skippers that I've run in to are just not interested in polars. I finally had to make my own for my 35.5. It takes a bit of time, but you can do it yourself. You will need boat speed and apparent wind speed and angle to do the calculations.

Polar diagram

Alan, Thanks for your response - Indeed I can do my own diagram or ask somebody to do the measurements by taking some 100 points from the boat in a calculation program. However I would like to know what the factory thinks about the behavior as I do not get the best angles - understatement - whith winds above the 20 knts. So if the factory comes with 20 or 30 degrees with a certain VMG speed then I would like to know, how then? My current UK foresail on the Furlex roller give me some 50 degrees I am afraid to say. So going onder reefed main only is currently my only good option ? Maybe I need a seperate sail on the bow which can be more flattend could be a better option but I do not know. I need some advice from the experts with this kind of boat. I come from a old Westerly with a total different behavior and although I am pleased with the boat when starts to blow it acts very different - regards Peter de Bruin
