I just saw this on my chart. It is labeled "Hansville and Point No Point Marina". Is this like the Flying Dutchman and only manifests on a full moon? Or is there actually something there. We've been by there many times, wishing there was something there but were not able to wish it into existence. Were we just not wishing hard enough?

There is no marina there.
I don't think there is even good anchorage there, at least I have never thought about it.
Usually Ludlow or Kingston would be the regular stops through that area.
But yes, probably a nice place to visit by land.

One place people often do not consider a little South of that stretch - a touch North of Carkeek Park, North of Shilshole Bay Marina.
There is a bay there that has decent crabbing and is a good anchorage in moderate weather.
My chart shows a Piper's Creek there. The joke is that the sewer outlet pipe is responsible for the crab population..
I have also done ship-to-shore transfers with the dinghy there since the parking lot for the park is a quick walk up from the beach.
There are houses up on the bluffs, but in some ways it is actually more private than being in a small cove with many other boats.
Its exposed, so can get a little rolly if the wind picks up, but by and large good holding ground and there is always room.

The water is deep up to near the beach. A strong eddy circles through the bay on the south side. It would not be a sheltered anchorage unless the wind was from the west. The Hansgrill is on the bluff overlooking the water. If you go into the Hood Canal a ways, I believe a marina can be found along the north shore. Stay away from the beach near Point No Point as a buoy warns about rocks.

I'll look at my Waggoneer's guide this evening.
