PNW dehumidifier

Thinking about getting a dehumidifier for the winter. Boat is in Seattle. My questions are:

What "pint capcity" should I get, looks like the smallest is 25 pints. Boat is 37 feet.

What about the 45 degree Seattle temperature. the units specs talk about a minimum air temp of about 60, though I see something about an automatic defroster feature. Any problem with air temps here.

Lastly, will probably get the hose drain feature and crack open a sink drain thru hull value a little to let drain, since it seems like if I drain into the bilge it is sort of self defeating.

Dehumidifier

Hi Seattle Scott,
I use a Whirlpool 25 pint dehumidifier at the Point Roberts Marina, only a 2.5 hour drive from Seattle. This dehumidifier works down to about 38 degrees F temperature and automatically shuts down below that. It does a great job on a 37 foot Bavaria sailboat. We are quite happy with it so far (after 1 year). We set it up just as you describe with the hose draining into one of the sinks with one (above water) through hull open. I also keep a small space heater running on low just to keep the chill off.

Moisture

I use three Air Dryr type units during the winter months, one for each cabin. This site carries them. I also run a small space heater on low. The boat remains pretty dry even during the cold PNW winter season. No mold or moisture problems since we purchased our boat in 2002.

Thanks guys. I was using one air dryr and a house fan. i plugged in a space heater on the lowerst setting for a couple of months last winter when it got down into the 20s-30s and I think it cost me $90 in electricity, so not doing that again. So following Tom's advise, I orded the whilpool unit.
